AI Adoption in 2025: Enterprise Acceleration

If 2023 was AI's breakout year and 2024 was the year skeptics were proven wrong, 2025 was the year the enterprise stopped experimenting and started spending. Enterprise LLM spend grew more than 10x in a single year. The market leadership shifted — Anthropic overtook OpenAI in enterprise share, OpenAI lost nearly half its position, and Google climbed to a credible third. Agentic AI moved from concept to scaled production. This page assembles the data that defines the year — drawn from Menlo Ventures, McKinsey, the Federal Reserve, and primary company announcements.

About this data

This page focuses specifically on calendar year 2025 — the period from January 2025 through December 2025. Statistics are drawn from publicly available studies, primary company announcements, and contemporaneous research reports. Menlo Ventures' "State of Generative AI in the Enterprise" reports (mid-year and year-end) are the most authoritative source on enterprise LLM market share dynamics in 2025 and are cited as the primary source for vendor share statistics.

Note that Menlo Ventures' enterprise market share figures are based on a survey of 150 technical leaders across AI startups and large enterprises and reflect production workloads, not consumer or developer usage. Consumer-facing market share (Statcounter, Similarweb) tells a different story where ChatGPT remains the leader. Data is refreshed quarterly.
