This page ranks the AI tools Gen Z uses, drawing on Pew’s 2026 teen chatbot data, the RAND American Youth Panel (students), Tinuiti’s generational survey, and Similarweb/Momentic web-visit share for overall market context.
The AI Behavior Index is the research arm of OneChat AI, an integrated multi-model AI platform. We compile and analyze data from primary research sources to make AI adoption and market trends more accessible to journalists, researchers, and decision-makers.
Why tool-share numbers differ across charts: they measure different things and populations. Pew’s ~59% is the share of teen chatbot users using ChatGPT; RAND’s 53% is students; Similarweb’s ~58.9% is U.S. web-visit share across all ages (a traffic measure, not a user-reach measure). “Reach” (what share of people use a tool) and “share” (what fraction of traffic a tool gets) are different metrics — we label which is which on each chart rather than blending them.
Methodology notes: Pew and RAND figures are from probability-based youth/student surveys and are multiple-select (a user can use several tools, so they don’t sum to 100%). The Similarweb/Momentic figures are web-visit share (excludes mobile apps and embedded uses) across all ages, included for market context, not as a Gen-Z-specific measure. Tool rankings are shifting quickly in 2026; figures reflect late-2025 to April-2026 snapshots.
